WALLER COUNTY INITIATIVE
The Show Home of Texas is a living laboratory focused on the goal of lowering the monthly cost
of living through advanced technologies, regulatory streamlining and innovative financial
applications. Working alongside researchers from TEES in potential collaboration with the
wider TAMU System, Quantum America intends to demonstrate how rural and suburban
communities can address the statewide (and national) attainable housing problem. The Show
Homes of Texas is the first phase (of three) for the Waller County Housing Initiative (WCHI)
which will run through February 2029. TEES research is expected to quantify and qualify the
various aspects of Quantum America’s designs for the homes and the communities in which they
reside.
The initiative is concerned with research and development support for the creation and
monitoring of five show homes and a visitor’s center located on 10 acres in southern Waller
County, Texas. Task Order 001 will take place from September 1, 2025 to February 28, 2027
and consists of the following initial set of seven activities:

In Activity 1, strategies for improving access to quality, attainable housing will be developed.
This includes siting homes where skilled labor resources are scarce and utility services may belimited. Housing developments of different sizes capable of existing without any connections to central utilities will be studied. Capabilities to include access to healthcare will be considered. Under this activity, TEES researchers, in potential collaboration with researchers from the TAMUS will assist QA.
